Those Dry Bones
"For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgement to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him."
John 5:21-23
God raised the dead a number times in the Old Testament, including Ezekiel's massive army of dry bones (Ezekiel 37:1-14). Before we came to Christ, we were nothing but dry bones. We were dead in our trespasses and sins until we heard the Word of the Lord and came to Jesus. We weren't given a religion in Christ, rather forgiveness for our sins and life eternal.
Every one will stand before Jesus Christ as Lord and give account of every idle word spoken, every deed done in darkness, ever secret sexual sin, every murderous act and so much more. Nothing and no one will escape the wrath of His Law except those who are sheltered in the shadow of the cross.
Reflection:
Have I become proficient in my knowledge of the Bible? Am I familiar with every story in the Scriptures? If not, how can I carve out time in my day/night for that purpose as to get to know Jesus Christ?
Father, give me a hunger to learn from your Word and uncover the nuggets of your truth.
