Identity

When Christ who is our life........But Christ is all and in all.
Colossians 3 : 4 & 11
From the moment that we can understand and know things about life, to the very last breath we take on this earth; we learn more and more about our true Identity. There are countless scripture that talks about what our Identities are supposed to be, an what they can be. Our Identities are supposed to be of Christ Jesus being our focal point in our lives, cause He is all and in all. However, if we reject or don't know Jesus, then our Identity is of the world and that is not the reason we were created. Regardless of the details of our births and deaths, the end result is to know and understand our Identities.
Sadly we tend to make our Identities about everything other than Jesus. Some of us make our Identity about our jobs, money, criminal background, work background, parenthood, titles, offices, no titles, no offices, even referring to ourselves as a no one or nothing, dad, mom, male, female, pastors, evangelists, prophets, apostles, teachers, churches, ministries, cops, sheriffs, even presidents; etc.
However, that is not what the Word (Jesus) says. Colossians 3 : 11 says, "there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all." Galatians 3 : 26 & 28 says, "for you are all sons of God........there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female." There are so very many people that quote and use scripture, especially ones like those, so very wrongfully and out of context and not according to its true meaning and purpose. How so?
Let's go back an look at those same scriptures but at how they are actually to be read, understood, and applied. Colossians 3 : 3-4 & 9-11 says, "For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Do not lie to one another, since you have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all." Galatians 3 : 26-28 says, "For you are all sons of God through Faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." I strongly encourage you to read the whole chapters of Colossians 3 and Galatians 3 to get more understanding. An to get it as a whole, read the whole books of Colossians and Galatians. Therefore, as you can see, people misuse scripture according to their wants, needs, and desires of the world. An not how it is intended to be understood and applied.
Recently, I had a situation that had to do with multiple areas in my life. The situation angered me and then saddened me to where I was in tears. However, my wife and 2 mentors reminded me that regardless of how people may see and think of me; that is not my Identity. Through my anger and tears, I smiled. I smiled because the reminder was that regardless of what trials and tribulations I may endure, nevertheless, my Identity is Christ Jesus. When you research and study scripture, you will find that our Identity and more is in Christ Jesus. It is only when Christ Jesus is our life, our complete focal point in all things of our lives, that we know and understand the purpose of our life and the why and what we were created for. I pray that this encourages you to get know your purpose and most of all to get to know Jesus Christ.
We love y'all
