Face It With Faith, It Will Happen
Where is your faith?
Luke 8:25
Face it with faith!
Jesus asked His disciples this question because it was evident that the storm had terrified them. Jesus had told them they were going over to the other side of the lake. Had their faith been strong, it would have been evidenced by their peace in the middle of the storm.
It's the daily storms that come to us (both small and big) that test our faith. Our great consolation is that every storm that God allows to come our way works for our good if we love Him and are called according to His purposes (Romans 8:28). Therefore, peace should remain when trials come, and (because of Romans 8:28) we can even give thanks in the midst of them.
Those who know we are going through trials should be able to see the answer to the question, "Where is your faith"? Our faith should show on our faces. It should be seen in our eyes and heard from our lips. We all go through rough times, but we will get to the other side.
Soul Searching: Is my heart fixed on God for the future? How can I fortify my faith in Him?
Father, help me to trust you in the storms.
Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.
Luke 8:22
It will happen!
It is imperative that we know what God says in His Word so when storms come, we can stand on that word and have peace.
Jesus told His disciples that they were going to cross the lake to the other side. It was absolutely going to happen because God always gets His way. When He said, "Let there be Light" (Genesis 1:3), light appeared - at the speed of light. When He told bread to multiply, bread did what it was told to do. The same with fish. Death bowed the knee to His Word. Had the disciples remembered that Jesus had said they were going to cross the lake and simply believed it, they would not have become fearful for their lives when a great storm arose.
The Word of God is all of exceedingly great and precious promises. If we're not aware of them (and believe them), when trials come our way, we will lose our peace. That's why we need to soak our souls in the Word of God daily and commit Scripture to memory, writing it down on our hearts.
Soul Searching: Do I soak myself in God's Word each day? What was the last verse I memorized?
Father, help me to search your Word as one who seeks great treasure.
We pray that this really impacts you as it does in our lives. Let the Word of God sustain you in every area of your life. Remember the promises that God gives us, provides us according to His Word. May your day and your week be filled with Joy and Peace, in Jesus Name.
